Company fined £400k for nuisance calls
Keurboom Communications Ltd in Bedfordshire was given the record-breaking fine by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Keurboom had harassed victims for 18 months asking whether they had suffered personal injury or wanted to make a claim for mis-sold PPI (payment protection insurance). Victims would receive calls throughout the day, sometimes repeatedly and at unsocial hours. More than 1,000 people complained to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Keurboom has now gone into liquidation but the ICO said they will work with liquidators to recover the fine.
