Michael McLean, 17, was on a work experience placement with Denholm MacNamee, a firm of industrial cleaners in Inverurie.  He died after being involved in a horrifying accident causing serious injuries to his neck and lungs.  Michael was on the last day of his summer placement.

Denholm MacNamee's spokesperson has said that everyone at the "close-knit firm" was "absolutely devastated".

His family made the decision to switch off Michael's life support machine after tests show irreparable damage to his spine and low brain activity.  Michael's family have taken the brave decision to donate his organs to help others.  Michael was a registered organ donor and his family say it is something he would have wanted.

The Health & Safety Executive are currently investigating the incident.
