LinkedIn Barrister Sexism Row

27 year old barrister, Charlotte Proudman, recently tweeted a message she has received from lawyer Alexander Carter-Silk.  Mr Carter-Silk had commented that Ms Proudman's LinkedIn profile picture was "stunning", although he did indicate that he thought his reply was "politically incorrect".

Ms Proudman responded by saying his comment was "unacceptable and misogynistic behaviour".

The full message and more information on the story can be found by clicking here.

Opinion has been divided with some saying that Ms Proudman has committed career suicide and others commending her for taking a stand against sexism, or at least perceived sexism.  See a further news story here.

Mr Carter-Silk has not given his full side of the story, albeit he did say he was commenting on the 'quality' of Ms Proudman's picture.

We cannot comment on this case as we have not spoken to either Ms Proudman or Mr Carter-Silk, but here at DSM Legal we do not tolerate any form of sexism or discrimination, particularly in the workplace.  If you have been the victim of discrimination in the workplace please visit our Discrimination Section by clicking here or telephone 01925 937070 for a confidential chat with one of our expert solicitors.
