Consultation

The Royal College of Surgeons has recently launched a consultation to consider ways in which the cosmetic surgery industry might be “cleaned up.”

A certification system is one of the possibilities, whereby surgeons agree to undertake only those areas of cosmetic surgery that they specialise in, and also publish details about their success rate.

It is debatable whether a voluntary certification system will go far enough to protect consumers or whether a mandatory system will be required.  In the meantime and whatever system is adopted, as much research as possible should be carried out before deciding on a particular surgeon.

Compensation claim

If the surgeon who operated on you was negligent, or you have had a botched procedure which has resulted in injury it is a fundamental principle of law that you have the right to be compensated.  At DSM Legal we take such claims very seriously and will push for the maximum compensation on your behalf.  Bringing a claim can be a big decision but we will support you every step of the way.  We will always keep you fully appraised of progress throughout the case and will be on hand to answer any queries or concerns you may have.

No win no fee

We take cosmetic surgery negligence claims on a no win no fee basis.  We will not charge our fee if your claim does not succeed.  If your claim succeeds we will recover most of our costs from your opponent’s insurance company.  You will be responsible only for our success fee (which is limited to a maximum of 25% of your compensation).  If your claim does not succeed, for whatever reason, there is of course no success fee.  We will discuss with you the possibility of taking out insurance to cover expenses and your opponent’s costs, and will advise what to do based on the merits of each case.  We are independent solicitors and have no financial arrangement whatsoever with insurance companies or any other third parties. We are therefore able to say with complete confidence that we will always act only in your best interests.
